Building work on listed or historic buildings or buildings within conservation areas requires a set of skills and experience not normally included in standard architectural services. 

Each project is unique with its own story of its journey through time. We help uncover each building’s distinctive features, which determines careful and meticulous repair. Where required, we add to the narrative of the building by designing new features, additions and extensions derived from the original details

We have experience of a wide range of conservation, repair and new works to listed buildings and Scheduled Ancient Monuments, within conservation areas, archeological sites and other sensitive locations.

Working with older buildings calls for a particular set of skills and expertise especially with regards to design work. Our design work encompasses both traditional and contemporary schemes to heritage buildings although we generally favour more modern designs for extensions to listed buildings.

Listed building consent is required for all internal and external works including demolition, alteration or extension to a listed building and its outbuildings. For new buildings in an historic environment we encourage sympathetic, contemporary design.

We’ve been involved in many recent works which have included the alteration and extension of listed buildings and buildings in conversation areas, covering everything from refurbishment and repair work, through to conservation and restoration.  Working on listed buildings or buildings within conservation areas is always a privilege for us and we are extremely proud of our experience and established skills in creative conservation architecture.
